According to NHK, JAL and Delta are in talks of capital tie-up. From "news flash" on NHK website:

Financially struggling Japan Airlines has entered negotiations to form a capital tie-up with US carrier Delta Airlines in order to receive large-scale capital assistance, NHK has learned.

Here is the video link of NHK news. The report is in Japanese so I have no idea what they are talking about. But i did see "Delta has the largest fleet", "JAL lost 99 billion yen last quarter", and "Delta will invest tens of billion yen" on the screen...

More reports quoting NHK news:
- Kyodo News: JAL to code share with Delta to avoid massive loss of passengers because they plan to drastically suspend unprofitable international routes; Net loss of the current fiscal year is WIDENING.
- Associated Press: Kyodo News agency also reported the same thing based on industry sources, saying JAL is considering the Delta investment and international flight cooperation; JAL spokesman Satoru Tanaka said JAL is "various tie-ups with a wide variety of potential partners but nothing has been decided".
- The Wall Street Journal: Delta not available for comment; JAL said nothing has been decided regarding this.
- The Wall Street Journal Article 2: Delta declined to comment; This will fill the gap of Skyteam in the Asia-Pacific region; Oneworld spokesperson said JAL is "an important and valued partner" in the region.
- Reuters: Delta will be the biggest JAL shareholder but JAL declined to comment.

I hope this is not true...What will this mean to the JMB program? :(
