Route and frequency changes for first half of FY2010

Japan Airliens has just announced its route and frequency changes for the first half of fiscal year 2010. Some of the suspensions have been announced by JAL earlier, some of the suspension/frequency decreases are continuation of previous ones. But there are also frequency increases on some routes probably due to JAL's withdrawal from nearby airports (e.g. Kobe vs Kansai and Itami).

INTERNATIONAL PASSENGER FLIGHTS
Frequency Decreases
Tokyo (Narita) - Shanghai
- Decrease from 28 to 21 weekly flights from March 28 2010.
- Suspension of JL619/610.
- Continuation of suspension from Feb 1 2010, which was announced in December 2009.

Tokyo (Narita) - Sao Paulo via New York
- Decrease from 3 to 2 weekly flights from March 28 2010.
- Continuation of suspension from Feb 1 2010, which was announced in December 2009.

Frequency Increases
Tokyo (Narita) - Ho Chi Minh
- Increase from 6 to 7 weekly flights from March 28 2010.

Tokyo (Narita) - Hanoi
- Increase from 3 to 7 weekly flights from March 28 2010.

Tokyo (Narita) = Guam
- JO941/JO942 will switch from 747-400 to 767-300ER from March 28 2010.

DOMESTIC PASSENGER FLIGHTS
Office Closures
- Closure of Shizuoka office
- Closure of Kobe office
- Closure of Matsumoto office

Service Suspensions (announced earlier)
Shizuoka - Sapporo
- Service suspension of 1 daily flight from April 1 2010

Shizuoka - Fukuoka
- Service suspension of 3 daily flights from April 1 2010

Kobe - Tokyo (Haneda)
- Service suspension of 2 daily flights from April 1 2010

Kobe - Sapporo
- Service suspension of 2 daily flights from June 1 2010

Kobe - Okinawa (Naha)
- Service suspension of 2 daily flights from June 1 2010

Kobe - Ishigaki
- Service suspension of 1 daily flight from June 1 2010

- Increase from 4 to 5 daily flights from June 1 2010

Osaka (Kansai) - Okinawa (Naha)
- Increase from 4 to 5 daily flights from May 6 2010

Fukuoka - Sendai
- Increase from 2 to 3 daily flights from May 1 2010

Kagoshima - Tokunoshima
- Increase from 2 to 4 daily flights from Apr 1, 2010
- To be operated by JAC

Kagoshima - Amami-oshima
- Increase from 5 to 7 daily flights from June 1 2010
- A portion to be operated by JAC

Kagoshima - Tanegashima
- Increase from 3 to 4 daily flights from April 1 2010
- Operated by JAC

CARGO FLIGHTS
- Changes are effective from March 28 2010 but a portion of the changes will be effective from March 1 2010.

- To be suspended.

Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong
- Rearrangement of routing
- Partial decrease in frequency
- Downsize to Boeing 767F aircraft
- 1 weekly Tokyo (Narita)-Singapore-Bangkok-Narita
- 2 weekly Narita-Singapore-Bangkok-Nagoya (Chubu)
- 2 weekly Narita-Bangkok-Hong Kong-Narita
- 5 weekly Narita-Hong Kong-Narita
- 4 weekly Osaka (Kansai)-Hong Kong-Narita

Shanghai
- Rearrangement of routing for a portion of late-night flights
- 5 weekly Narita-Kansai-Shanghai-Narita
- 1 weekly Kansai-Shanghai-Narita

Tianjin, Dalian
- Rearrangement of routing
- 5 weekly Narita-Tianjin-Dalian-Kansai

Nagoya (Chubu) - Narita
- Aircraft change for Chubu-Narita portion
- 2 weekly flights operated with 747-400F
- 2 weekly flights operated with 767F

So still no announcement of the which 14 international and 17 domestic routes are to be suspended. Maybe we will have to wait till June when JAL file the restructuring plan with the court to find out...For now, your travel plan should be safe till June :)
