JAL to issue a co-branded credit card with JR Kyushu

Japan Airlines (JAL) and JR Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) have decided to form partnership and issue a co-braned credit card called "JMB JQ SUGOCA". It combines the JAL Mileage Bank, JAL IC, JQ Card, and SUGOCA functions into a single card.


The card will be issued by AEON and three options: Visa, Master and JCB will be offered. The tentative launch date of this card is Fall 2013 (yea 2013 according to the press release!?) 

Below are the brief description of the functionalities

JAL Function
- Use as a JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) membership card. So you can collect JMB miles through the usual means
- Use the JAL IC service such as the simple Touch & Go boarding

JQ CARD Function
- Purchase exclusive tickets for JQ CARD members
- Earn JQ points through credit card purchases
- Special discounts and promotions for JQ Card holders
- Auto recharge to your SUGOCA card

SUGOCA card function
- Use to ride the trains and as electronic payment system (similar to Suica from JR East)
- Exchange

And of course, you can exchange JMB miles with JQ points and vice versa. For more details, you can refer to the JAL Press Release (Japanese only)
