Japan Airlines (JAL) has launched yet another Thanks to 25 million JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members campaign targeting just the overseas members called "Let's Take Monorail from Haneda! Monorail Ticket Present Campaign". The first 2,500 qualifying overseas JMB members who present the voucher at the designated counter can get a free one-way Tokyo Monorail ticket and a lottery ticket to win some original prizes.
This campaign will begin on December 1 2012 and end when 2,500 JMB members have redeemed for the ticket or on March 31 2013, whenever comes first. In order to qualify for the campaign, you need to travel Japan on a JAL operated international flight arriving at Tokyo Haneda Airport. This means you need to fly on one of the flights from San Francisco, Honolulu, Paris, Singapore, Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei to Haneda. Even no mileage earning tickets including award tickets qualify for this campaign.
Pre-registration is required too. You need to print out a voucher for the ticket exchange. Only one voucher is needed for the entire group if you are traveling with friends and families. But all of them need to be JMB members in the overseas regions. You will receive a one-way Tokyo Monorail ticket and a lottery ticket per person.
The prizes for the lottery include Tokyo Monorail Hello Kitty original goods x 920, JAL original tote (white or navy) x 40 and JAL original 787 towel x 40. So a total of 1,000 winners. The odds is good considered only 2,500 people qualify for this! Although JAL didn't provide photos of the prizes but I believe this is the towel and tote. The towel is 35cm x 83cm, 100% made from cotton and is made in Japan. And the tote is 40cm x 15cm x 27 big, is made of cotton and is made in China. Below is the navy one I got during my last trip to Haneda.

Earlier this week JAL announced the 2nd round of campaigns for the 25M members celebration and only 2 out of the 10 new campaigns apply to overseas members. One of the 8 campaigns that target Japan region members is a Monorail campaign. So this is just a different (and worse) version for the overseas members. I would rather pay for the Monorail ticket myself and get some miles out of it. 1,000 lucky Japan region members can even get 10,000 miles from that campaign. All we get is these free goods :( Not to mention there are only a limited number of international flights flying to Haneda which makes this campaign even less useful and have a much smaller targeted group :(
