Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced that their frequent flyer program, JAL Mileage Bank (JMB), has reached the 25 million members milestone. To celebrate this amazing achievement, JAL has launched a series of campaign. The first 3 campaigns were announced today and more will be announced on October 25 2012 (JST).

Let's Encourage Tohoku with Mile Donation Project
JAL donating 15 million miles to this project. In addition, JAL will be accepting mileage donations in the unit of 2,500 miles from JMB members between 10:00 JST on October 17 2012 and 23:59 JST on January 7 2013 (JST). The generous members who participated in this gifting campaign will receive a limited edition JAL Tsurumaru luggage tag. JAL will send the miles to families affected by the Tohoku earthquake. At least 250 families will be selected at a random draw and each will be awarded 100,000 JMB miles so they can travel to places they want and bring smiles to the children affected by this disaster. Families affected by the Tohoku earthquake can register for the giveaway between 10:00 JST on November 1 2012 and 23:59 JST on January 31 2013. For more details of this charity campaign, you can refer to JAL website (Japan, America, Europe, Asia Oceania)

Expanded Award Ticket Priority Flight Operations
JAL has been running the award ticket priority flight operation campaign for a while. If you are not familiar with this, it is a campaign which JAL selects certain flights to be designated as priority flights for award ticket. As long as there is a economy class seat for sale, award redemptions will be available on these flights. However, so far these flights have been limited to the Tokyo Haneda - Sapporo Chitose and Tokyo Haneda - Okinawa Naha routes. To celebrate the 25 million members milestone, JAL will be expanding this to the Sapporo Chitose - Osaka Kansai and Sapporo Chitose - Nagoya Chubu routes from November 2012. For more details, you can refer to JAL website (Japanese, English)

Discounted Upgrade Campaign on 787 Routes
JAL will be offering 2,500 miles discount on one-way Business Class upgrade award on 787 routes for travel between November 1 2012 and March 31 2012. Below are the details.

Boarding Dates
November 1 2012 - March 31 2012 (local time)

Eligible Members
JMB members from all regions

One thing that's not clear to me is whether Tokyo Narita - Beijing is eligible for this campaign or not. Only the Haneda flight is operated with 787. For more details, you can refer to JAL website (Japanese, English)

Once again, these are only the first 3 campaigns launching JAL's celebration to the 25 million members campaign. JAL will be announcing more campaigns on October 25 2012. You can find more details on the 25 million members special page (Japanese, English).
