Jetstar Japan, the low-cost carrier (LCC) joint venture of Japan Airlines (JAL), Qantas and Mitsubishi, announced today that they are moving their launch date up from end of 2012 to July 3 2012 (subject to regulatory approval). Jetstar Japan will launch with 3 new A320s initially and will be based in Tokyo Narita (NRT). Their network at launch will include Tokyo Narita, Osaka, Sapporo, Okinawa and Fukuoka.

So the third time is really a charm and the Jetstar Japan finally comes true. Japan Airlines (JAL) and Qantas (QF) announced today that they will set up a new low cost carrier (LCC), Jetstar Japan, based in Narita. Jetstar Japan will start operation by December 2012.

Nikkei Business Daily has reported yet another Japan Airlines (JAL) low cost carrier (LCC) rumor today. According to the paper, JAL and Jetstar will set up a new Narita (NRT) based LCC together with Mitsubishi and this new LCC will start operations by December 2012.

Japan Airlines has reached an agreement with Jetstar (JQ) to expand their existing code sharing deal to include the Kansai - Cairns service operated by JQ from April 1 2010
