Japan Airlines (JAL) has finally announced the launch date of the new long-haul Boeing 767-300ER cabin dubbed JAL SKY SUITE 767 (SS6). As reported before, JAL will launch SS6 on December 9 2013. Initially it will be deployed on the Tokyo Narita - Vancouver route and will be progressively expanded to the Tokyo Narita - Kuala Lumpur route in January and other long-distance routes in Southeast Asia and Honolulu routes in fiscal year 2014.

[Update: Flights in December have been loaded with SS6 configuration and initial SS6 service is only 5-6 weekly on the two routes]

Japan Airlines (JAL) has finally loaded presumably the JAL SKY SUITE 767 (SS6) seat map for the Tokyo Narita - Vancouver and Tokyo Narita - Kuala Lumpur route today. Flights JL018 and JL017 from December 9 2013, and flights JL723 and JL724 from February 1 2014 now shows the new seat map on certain days which no longer identifies the seat type in Business Class and no longer shows the type of inflight entertainment system onboard. This usually means JAL is in progress of rolling out a new configuration, which in this case is the new SS6 configuration. If you look at the seat map, it does not even have the new style layout with a nice plane outline!

Japan Airlines (JAL) is running a campaigns for Premium Economy trial and lounge service trail on select routes to Europe and America. If you purchase a eligible ticket for travel between August 1 2013 and March 31 2014, you will be able to take advantage of these campaigns.

Finally Japan Airlines has unveiled the details of it long-anticipated long-haul 767-300ER (763) retrofitting plan. The newly retrofitted 763 will be dubbed as SKY SUITE 767 and will be shown as SS6 in the timetable. Just like the 777-300ER fleet upgrade, the SS6 theme is to provide a New Sky experience 1 class above the current cabins and extra personal space.

Special upgrade discount campaign on Europe and North America routes. Image from Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines (JAL) has just announced a rather amazing upgrade campaign for JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members in the American and Europe/Middle East/Africa regions as part of the Thanks to 25 million JMB members! celebration. For a limited time, you can save up to 20,000 miles when upgrading from Economy to Business class on JAL flights between Japan and North America and Europe! However JAL is only running this campaign for a very limited time! Below are the details

Japan Airlines (JAL) will be introducing User-Preferred-Routes (UPR) on its Tokyo Narita (NRT) - Vancouver (YVR) route from December 19 2011. NRT-YVR will be the third destination country in JAL networks to take advantage of UPR after Japan - Honolulu and Tokyo Narita - Australia switching to UPR in August 2008 and June 2009 respectively. JAL estimates that this can save them a total of 220,000 lbs of fuel and therefore reducing approximately 315 tons of carbon dioxide gas emission a year

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Canada's WestJet (WS) will begin codesharing from December 15 2012. This will improve connectivity of JAL's Tokyo Narita (NRT) - Vancouver (YVR) flights as currently JAL does not have a domestic codesharing partner in Canada. As a result, JAL will add 4 more Canadian cities, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna and Winnipeg, to JAL's network. Reservations will begin on December 14 2012. Below are the schedules of the codesharing flights.

Good day to live in Vancouver today, Japan Airlines (JAL) has yet another campaign targeted for the Vancouver route (well probably because it is under performing even after downsizing it from 777 to 767 earlier in March). JAL is running a Super Discount Award Ticket Campaign for its Tokyo Haneda (HND) - San Francisco (SFO) and Tokyo Narita (NRT) - Vancouver (YVR) routes between November 1 2011 and February 29 2012. You can save up to 30,000 JMB miles if you redeem an award ticket on these routes and fly during the campaign period. Below are more details.

Japan Airlines (JAL) is running a double miles promotion on its Tokyo - Vancouver route. You are eligible for double miles as long as you register for the campaign before your flight and are booked in eligible booking classes.
