[Update: Added confirmation for Japanese only offering at launch]

Japan Airline finally announced more Boeing 787 routes. Other than the Narita-Boston routes, JAL has added three more routes including Tokyo Haneda - Beijing, Tokyo Narita - Delhi, and Tokyo Narita - Moscow.

These international routes will start from end of March 2012. And of course the Tokyo Narita - Boston route will be added from April 22 2012 as planned. Moscow has always been one of the first 787 routes planned by JAL. JAL executives have talked about that long time ago (before 787 was first delayed). I also expect HND-PEK to be one of them, but NRT-DEL was a bit of a surprise. Currently DME and DEL are both served by 777-200ER with premium economy. Given the current 787 configuration doesn't show premium economy, this might mean aircraft downsizing and elimination of premium economy class on the DEL and DME routes if JAL is not adding extra service to these cities.

Other than the newly announced routes, JAL has also announced new entertainment option onboard on the Boeing 787s called the SKY MANGA. As you might have already guessed, this is the new inflight entertainment (IFE) option related to the famous Japanese manga! Starting from March 2012, JAL will roll out this new IFE service on the 787 international flights. Passengers will be able to read manga from shogakukan on their personal screens. Tentatively they plan to provide around 90 volumes consists 1-3 volumes from around 30 titles. And contents will be updated periodically.

Unfortunately, according to JAL President, SKY MANGA will only be available in Japanese at launch, but JAL will consider expanding the offering in English in the future.

The final update is the paper aircraft page. Now the paper 787 has the new JAL livery :D

For more details, please refer to JAL special 787 page and the Press Release (Japanese). The next 787 updates will be in early January 2012.
