Japan Airlines (JAL) has been running the Tohoku Support Project - "VISIT TOHOKU!" since June 1 2013 to help supporting the area affected by the Tohoku earthquake. Recent initiatives include discounted domestic tickets for foreign visitors to visit Tohoku region and international charter flights to Tohoku. The latest project is to create a special livery to fly all over Japan to promote the VISIT TOHOKU! project awareness. And you get be part of this special livery by contributing your Facebook profile pictures! Also through that, you will be helping to plant some sakura trees in Onagawa, Miyagi too!

When Japan Airlines (JAL) first released the details of the new long-haul and medium-haul Boeing 767-300ER cabins, JAL SKY SUITE 767 (SS6), it states that designs of the Business Class seat dubbed JAL SKY SUITE II might be slightly different from the rendering pictures. But looks like JAL has finally completed the design of JAL SKY SUITE II as it has updated the Japanese version of the SS6 website with new images of the real seats and set up demo units at the JAL SKY MUSEUM. JAL is also running a social marketing campaign to promote the new SS6 cabin which will be first rolled out to the Tokyo Narita - Vancouver route in December 2013, followed by the Tokyo Narita - Kuala Lumpur route in January 2014, and will eventually be expanded to other long-haul and medium-haul routes such as Honolulu by the end of fiscal year 2014.

One of the items on Japan Airlines (JAL) mid-term management plan is to improve the inflight meals served on flights departing from an outport. Recently JAL Beijing office has launched an initiative to do just that with the aim to provide fresh and delicious inflight meals to its customers.

Yesterday, Japan Airlines (JAL) has successfully launched their first new route after it re-listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange earlier this year. This 4 weekly 787-8 service to San Diego is the first ever non-stop scheduled flight linking Asia and San Diego, the 2nd largest city in California behind Los Angeles.

On November 9 2012, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced that they have signed up to be one of the official partners to support Tokyo's bid for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. One of the ways JAL shows its support is to fly an airplane with special livery. Today JAL has officially unveiled the Tokyo 2020 special livery at Tokyo Haneda.

Japan Airlines (JAL) celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Tokyo - Frankfurt route on October 4 2012. A JAL mini Oktoberfest was held at the departure gate of JL408 to celebrate the occasion and the lucky passengers also received some special gifts from JAL too!

There were two special Japan Airlines (JAL) 787 flight that took off yesterday. The first one is commencement flight of the recently unveiled JAL x Ghibli special decal JET (JA828J) for the SORA wo TOBU (Fly the Skies) project. Japan Airlines (JAL) has just launched a social media campaign to promote their new cabins and services to be launched on the Tokyo Narita - London Heathrow route in January 2013. All you have to do is to post some messages with your Facebook, Twitter, or Mixi account and you will be entered into the lucky draw for one of the three great prizes.

Japan Airlines (JAL) inaugural 787 flight to Boston finally took off at 11:46 JST today. The inaugural flight, JL008, is operated with JA822J, the 2nd 787 JAL received, and is completely sold out. The current estimated arrival time is 11:33 EDT, 13 minutes behind schedule but is still considered as on-time according industry standard.

Japan Airlines (JAL) has uploaded the airport information page for Boston ahead of the launch of the Tokyo Narita - Boston route. And as expected, JAL won't be operating its own lounges at BOS, instead they will be using the British Airways First Lounge and British Airways Terraces lounge.
