Japan Airlines (JAL) announced couple weeks ago that it will be organizing a 2-day retirement tour for the MD-90 on January 12 2013 and promised to release more details on November 20 2012, which is today! So here are the details of the retirement tours. JAL has scheduled JA8070 to be used on this tour. It is the only MD-90 painted with the new livery because it was due for a paint job as part of the maintenance. But of course this could change due to aircraft maintenance and routing. There will be a total of 3 flights: Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Kushiro (KUH) and Kushiro to Oita (OIT) on Day 1 and Oita to Tokyo Haneda on Day 2. Below is the details of the itinerary.

Every year Japan Airlines (JAL) will organize a special sunrise tour on the New Year day so passengers can watch the New Year sunrise near the Fuji Mountain up in the air. And this year is no difference. JAL announces today it will be organizing two New Year sunrise tours this year, one from Tokyo Haneda and one from Tokyo Narita.

We all know Japan Airlines (JAL) loves to organize special tours especially when they launch a new route or when they retire an aircraft type from their fleet (they recently announced a 2-day domestic tour for the MD-90 retirement and more details will be released on November 20 2012). So it shouldn't be a surprise that JAL will be organizing a special tour for the new Tokyo Narita (NRT) - San Diego (SAN) 787 route launch this December. It will be a 5 day tour and you will be able to fly on the inaugural flight JL066 from NRT to SAN on December 2 2012. Below are the details of the itinerary.

You saw this coming right? ;) Japan Airlines (JAL) will of course organize a special inaugural flight tour to celebrate the upcoming launch of Tokyo Narita (NRT) - Boston (BOS) 787-8 service. Since this is a long-haul route, its probably a good idea not to do a same day turn around (although some might want to). Therefore JAL is giving you two options and you can choose to be on the inaugural NRT-BOS flight (JL008) or the inaugural BOS-NRT (JL007) flight.

Japan Airlines (JAL) announced more details on the roll out of their new Tsurumaru livery. Although they won't be changing the company logo until April 1 2011, the new livery will debut a month ahead of the change. JAL has just received a brand new 767-300ER (which happens to be the 999th production 767) with registration number JA654J. This will be the first plane with the new Tsurumaru livery. As you can see in the delivery video on KPAE Paine Field, the plane was delivered without finishing the paint job. Body was painted with the new livery's white but the rudder was painted with the on Arc of The Sun livery. JAL will do some painting before rolling this out.
