Summary of Today's Press Conference [Updated]

Below are some of the highlights of today's press conference

1. JAL will move to AA's T3 at ORD from March 27 2011. 
2. JBV applies to routes other than US-Japan ones. It will include 
• Trans-Pacific: JAL's NRT-LAX, ORD, JFK, YVR and HND-SFO AA's JFK-NRT/HND, ORD-NRT, DFW-NRT, LAX-NRT, ORD-PEK, ORD-PVG, LAX-PVG (Chinese routes pending government approvals)
• Connecting flights: JAL's domestic flights and flights to/from Asia. AA's flights to/from Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and US domestic flights.
3. Greatly reduce fares when passenger wants to mix and match flights. Currently if you fly outbound on JAL and for schedule reason you fly your inbound on AA (why would you want to fly on AA other than the schedule reason anyway), the ticket price is about JPY249,000. But with ATI JAL and AA can offer the same ticket for just JPY69,000
4. Commemorative campaign for flights between Feb 1 and March 31 2011 which will offer discounted tickets on transpacific flights
5. A lot of focus on ORD as it has lots of connecting traffic. Interval between JAL and AA's ORD flights will increase. Earlier departure for JAL's flight (currently departs at around noon) and later evening departure for AA's flight. [Update: JAL's NRT-ORD flight will depart at 11:00 while AA's will depart at 18:15 according to WSJ]
6. In general connecting option increase for both carriers. 
7. Expand codeshare from 119 destinations to 123 destinations. New destinations include Salt Lake City and Sacramento.
8. AA will start codesharing on HND-SIN, HKG on Jan 27. Also start codesharing NRT-YVR.
9. In March, AA will codeshare JAL's domestic flights in March. Details will be announced later after attaining government approval.
10. JAL will reschedule LAX-NRT flights to reduce connection time between US domestic flights
11. More mileage earning and redemption opportunity as a result of increased codesharing. Also there will be more promotion opportunities. (NO useless campaign like extra miles when flying on AA"s transpacific flights please)
12. Other benefits like they are sharing know how on different areas, profit sharing, blah blah blah which we all know already.
