Which aircraft is JAL flying LAX-NRT? (updated)

Someone tried to google "what aircraft is jal flying lax nrt" today and landed onto one of the pages on my blog (and then bounced...). Well in case you are still looking and somehow return to my blog again, here is the answer.

JAL is using 744 on its NRT-LAX route. But they will be switching to 777-300ER in November 2009. The two 744 configurations used in the LAX route currently are L02 and L04. They both have Solo seats in First class, Shell Flat in Business class. When they switch to 773 in November, the configuration will most likely be W82, which is their latest configuration used on JFK and SFO routes. It will start offering the 4th cabin, Premium Economy, after the switch. The seats will be JAL Suite in F, Flat Shell Neo in J, Sky Shell Seat in PY, and the latest seats in Y (sorry no name :P).

Update: JAL will be switching LAX-NRT and ORD-NRT to 777-300ER on October 25 2009.

  1. Hey Pak, Black Adder from FT here, nice to see the blog. I was talking to JMB today and asked when the 777-300 was going to start flying out of LAX and the agent said he didn't know. Hopefully they haven't pushed it back.

  2. Thanks Black Adder! I can't wait to try out their new 773 on LAX flights. MAGIC-III alone will make the flight 10x more enjoyable :)
