Kingfisher Airlines intends to join Oneworld

Kingfisher Airlines (IT), which is India's leading domestic carrier and only 5-star Indian airline, has informed India's Ministry of Civil Aviation their intention to join Oneworld alliance.

According to the press release, IT has signed the memorandum of understanding at a meeting with 11 Chief Executives from the current Oneworld members (Really!? I don't see Dr. Inamori there). IT hasn't set a target date to join OW yet as its OW membership is still pending Indian regulatory approval. The earliest possible date would be some time in 2011 as IT has to implement system changes to meet OW standards which normally takes around 18 months to complete. BA will be IT's sponsor.

IT's loyalty is called "King Club" (of course), and there are four tier status. Currently IT partners with Delta, Continental, Air France, KLM, Qatar and Emirates. So joining Oneworld would probably means cutting tie with at least Delta LOL Is this karma or revenge? :P
