Rumor: Inamori does NOT want Onishi as JAL new COO

Sorry Masaru Onish, President of Japan Air Commuter, you are not the right person as Japan Airlines new COO. At least Kazuo Inamori, JAL's new CEO said so, according to Kyodo News.

Inamori expressed his intention to pick someone else as JAL new COO after meeting Onishi. As a result, ETIC withdraw its new COO plan and leave it to Inamori to find the right candidate. This means the COO announcement will likely be delayed till February.

Why is Inamori so picky? That's probably because the new COO will also be doubled as the new President of JAL and while he himself doubles as the chairman. As he once said, he is too old for a full time job. He will only work 3-4 days a week (unpaid). So this COO will be run JAL and be the active leader. So if Onishi isn't the right person, then it's important that Inamori finds this out before hand. But hopefully he can find the right candidate soon!
